OUR TEAM: The Urban Monks
Matt Morris – Founder
Matt has a long-standing interest in local organic food and voluntary simplicity. He has been a leader in the organic food movement locally and nationally since the late 1990s.
After the Christchurch Earthquakes Matt was inspired by the local food resilience movement to found The Urban Monk in 2014 as a social enterprise that gives back value to the local food system. He’s also a writer and recently published Common Ground: Garden Histories of Aotearoa through Otago University Press.
Rowan Wilson-Davey – Sales Manager
Our Sales Manager Rowan is a super-friendly, eco-conscious and out-doorsy Brighton boy. With a degree in IT, he’s also our tech guy.
Rowan says that apart from the delicious products he gets to sell, he ‘loves the vibes and energy and the culture within this business, and that it is fundamentally for good – it’s beautiful.’
He’s always up for a chat, so get in touch with him if you have any sales queries!
Oliver Peryman – Kraut-maker
Oliver is in charge of making all our krauts, which he likes doing while listening to Hildegard von Bingham. He likes that ‘there is space within the operation to feel and be that way while I go about the work.’
His focus is on ‘abiding in the life that is committing to us at every given moment.’
